Before you book
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly through Headway without a referral from another provider.
What happens at my first visit?
The first visit is a full psychiatric evaluation — a review of your history, current symptoms, and goals — used to build your treatment plan.
Is this telehealth or in person?
Visits are offered by secure telehealth across Virginia. Availability for in-person visits, if offered, is noted during booking.
How do I know if my insurance is accepted?
Enter your insurance when booking through Headway — it verifies your benefits and shows your estimated cost before you confirm.
Can this practice prescribe controlled substances, like ADHD medication?
Yes, when clinically appropriate and consistent with state and federal prescribing guidelines, following a full evaluation.
Will you work with my therapist?
Yes. With your written consent, we can coordinate care and share relevant updates with your therapist or primary care provider.
What if I need to reschedule or cancel?
You can manage, reschedule, or cancel appointments directly through your Headway confirmation email or account.
What do I do in a crisis?
This practice does not manage psychiatric emergencies. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), or go to your nearest emergency room.
